Jannat - The Movie - review.
Lately I had become busy with a change in my apartment, giving a farewell to Anand - my roommate and senior who graduated last week(Congrats man ! Don't let me miss you - Keep in touch through gtalk :)), packing my stuff for internship in Micron and similar things.
I got little time today and watched Jannat-the movie on recommendation. My liking for the actress was rather another reason for me to watch it. Here is a review for the readers. No warnings ! No spoilers !
The character of hero who is a spolied brat has been played by Imran Hashmi, who is a reckless gambler. He has a friend who would usually borrow money from various sources and give it to him. Hero's father is the only one who knows that he is a glib liar and that he is not on a right track !
The hero however is a forward thinker and is too confident about an awaited "lady luck", played by Sonal Chouhan. He finds her in a mall and goes to extent of breaking the glass of the jewellery store for bringing a ring to her. Apparently, she does not take the ring in their first meeting when he reaches her home. He keeps the ring with himself and continues spending money with various credit cards to buy costly items in order to impress her.
His lender would trouble him to return the money and in his persuits to gain quick money, he discovers that he has a knack to guess the results of cricket matches. He indulges himself in cricket "betting" to earn quick but illegal money and soon is entrapped by underworld who want him to use his "skills" for them. Here they convert his job from "betting" to "fixing". Meanwhile he brings the heroine also with him to South Africa which becomes his new base.
A cop follows him from India who is actually a friend of his father. The heroine helps the cop arrest him and hero gets a sentense. The underworld don is however not happy with this and gets him out of the jail. Meanwhile, the heroine starts to work in a dance club and struggles to live on herself. After coming out of the jail, the hero tries to know why she helped the cops arrest him and it is only then the hero realizes that she really loves him. He promises her to become a good guy, however the underworld don won't succumb. He pressurizes him to come to the "match-fixing-business" again and the hero indulges himself in it for "one-last-time".
The one last time is rather too much ! where the hero accidentally finds himself in the Bob-Woolmer look alike murder case. He runs from the police and asks the heroine to run with him, however, she convinces him to surrender. The hero surrenders, however he gets killed as he bends down to pick the dropped ring while the cops confuse his action with the action of picking the gun again and shoot him.
The best part of the movie is music, the story line and Imran's acting. Sonal has a long way to go and probably she has to prove herself with her acting, dance, and dialogue delivery :)
