Legend has it that when he announced that he was taking the last course in that particular semester, ENTIRE department enrolled for it.

If you are a chemical engineer, you must have heard of Prof Biron Bird. If you have not heard, either you are not a chemical engineer or probably you have never taken a course in transport phenomena.

In the chemical engineering lounge, when we heat up our lunch in the microwave and eat it, we often grab news paper in our hands. We usually find the cross word puzzle fully solved and an A + written on that. Yes we know that he solves it and grades it himself. A thing which people say he is doing since many years.

He comes to the weekly seminars and asks if there are cookies. He sits in the front row, waves to other colleagues from there. The speaker of the seminar feels proud when Prof. Bird attends a seminar.

Now some "quotes" about him from other professors.

"Suppose you are very smart...your name is Prof. Biron Bird..."

"You should take a lecture from prof. Bird, you will know how to use a blackboard properly "

"I have often struggled with transport phenomena...ya we can't be as good as Bird "

And you might then have to say passively ...ya they do...They should know from your transcript ! Oh...Wisconsin ??! Must be good in transport phenomena..." The school where this legendary professor cheers everyone till date when he is close to 85 !!
